Why I still prefer the Sansa over the Zune or iPod

I have been using my Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB mp3 player for about a year now. I had always hesitated getting the iPod because the only way to get music onto the device is to keep a copy of your music on your computer. I love that my Sansa is just a hard drive, where I am able to just drag and drop my media files in both directions. So basically, I use it as an external drive.

My 11 year old son wanted a Zune very badly.  I picked up the old 30 GB version for just under $100. Microsoft provided the great new update to the new firmware as the new Zune series. However, I am stuck with only using it to synchronize the music with my computer (not even syncing directly with my Sansa attached to the computer).

As I am browsing for a solution to my dilemma, I found a small hack on www.zuneboards.com that will make the Zune appear as a drive in "my Computer"

But I can only copy and paste from the Zune to the computer. But not back !!!

30 GB??..I don't know if you all have an extra 30 GB to spare on your computer to be able to stay in sync with your device. I would rather move the 30 GB from my Computer onto an MP3 player.

My 8GB Sansa won't be leaving my side yet.

The Continuation

Since Palm started with their PDA's I have been involved (and still am) on many sites as contributor for many articles, reviews and helping many others on all those forums.

My real hook on mobile devices started though with the first Windows Mobile Solutions on the Compaq iPaq series. Since then I have been writing, reviewing and answering questions. Sometimes with more intensity as other times ( due to work circumstances and other reasons).

My effort for Mobilty Minded will give me (and others) an outlet and maybe we will be creating a portal of approved sites for the Mobility Minded people. All the new mobile communication devices will give us so many possibilities and change the way we communicate. But there is no one perfect solution. Hopefully we will be able to help you make the right choices.
